fluer de lis project: complete!

watching hgtv is a bad thing for me...well not a bad thing, it puts me in creative mode and i get the urge to create things that i see other places that i love. this particular project was inspired by something in a house i saw on vh1 and fell in love with, you can ask my sisters, i sent them photos of the tv screen...and i decided to recreate the piece for my own home...with my own little twist. below are some photos of how i started it AND the finished project hanging on my living room wall! enjoy!

and... drum roll please..........

a close up of the final project!

my home.

this is a growth chart that i made to match the decor in my daughters' room.

this mirror was a yard sale find that i only spent $11 on total(paint and the mirror). it was black and gold before and let's face it...it was not pretty but now it looks great and hangs in my bathroom as my above sink mirror.

this little castle was silver but i loved it for our play room...throw on a little bit of pink paint and it matches everything in the playroom perfectly!

these nine pieces were made out of some extra/leftover wood we had laying around the house...you can see how cute it turned out and it's simple yet adds enough pizazz to pull the room together

i could find no matching wall hangings for my oldest daughters bedroom set so i bought some paint, wall canvases and created these custom pieces for my daughters room. i'm very pleased with the outcome.

my girls love princess stuff and i love having mirrors in the house in each room, this mirror was a brown, old styled mirror...add a coat of paint and it fits in my girls room perfectly with a vintage & feminine twist.

i love the little baskets for changing tables, etc and this one is one that i made myself. i bought the pieces separately and put them together and then painted it for a custom look to match the colors and decor in the bedroom.

here are some wooden photo frames that i painted to match the curtains and bedding in my daughters room.

this is another wall piece that i painted to match my daughters bedroom set...i made it out of the top of an older table that we were no longer using.

i loved this lamp and frame but they looked a little plain so i added a few stripes and dots and it added enough character to the pieces to where they fit into the nursery beautifully.

i'm a big fan of names in rooms and here is an example of one of my girls' name that i painted differently to go in her room.

i love verses and sayings on wall pieces. this is a simple yet beautiful canvas piece that can be hung on a door, wall or other and its very versatile.

when doing my dining room and living room i could not find curtains that i *loved* to go in them...i did however find sheets that i wished were curtains to put in those rooms...and then i had the idea of why not? so the photo below and the photo of my living room are of sheet sets that i loved that i turned into curtains...and they work in the rooms perfectly!

.peyton's room.

peyton is such a precious little girl, she's my youngest, and she has adorable bedding and i knew exactly what i wanted to do for her room once i saw the bedding. here is a photo from my phone. i will take more photos with an actual camera and post them here as well so you can see. enjoy.

below is the wall decor that i made to go with her bedding. this is right above her bed.
to go with the colors in her wall decor and her bedding, i hung 3 decorative little lamp shades at staggered heights.
this is not a good photo of the whole thing bc the angle you can't see how the ceiling hangings and wall hangings play off each other but really i am very pleased with how this project turned out

.kenzie's room.

kenzie has really gotten into horses and antiques and has a very pronounced sense of style and what she wants, likes, loves and dislikes. she loves antiques and its so cute because it fits her personality perfectly. here are some pieces that i customized and found for her room from various places (yard sales, thrift stores, antique stores, etc)

this piece is ultra heavy and so it makes a great door stop for her room and it helps continue the theme of horses and antiques through out her room, floor to ceiling
this little table is actually a tv tray that i found in my garage that i painted and distressed to go with the look and the feel of the room. i'm very pleased with how it has turned out.
this mirror is something they already had and it has been in several rooms used several ways. this time we painted it white and antiqued it and hung it above her french provincial styled dresser and it pulls it together very nicely.
her bedding has butterflies in it and i just knew that when i saw these that they would be perfect for her room. these were all kind of a plaster color so i picked out some prominent colors in her bedding and room decor and painted the butterflies accordingly and they make a beautifully sweet addition to her room
this coat rack was going to be thrown away...and you know what they say...one mans trash is another mans treasure. i couldn't leave this piece out, especially with the character it has and how well it fits in this room
